A little about the woman behind the letters

Hi, I’m Lynn.

Or, at least that’s what you can call me here.

Complexly simple is my little corner of the internet where I get to tell the truth about life as I’m living it.

I’m a mother. A homeschool mom. A woman of faith- who in fact struggles sometimes. A business owner. A student of life and academics. A homemaker in progress. A woman learning how to love herself, love God, raise a good little human, and build a life that reflects who I am on the inside.

I’m also still figuring things out… and honestly, that’s kind of the point.

Why complexly simple?

For a long time I thought I needed to have everything figured out before I could fully enjoy my life.

I thought I needed the right relationship. The right body. The right career. The right house. The right routine. The right version of myself.

But life doesn’t work that way (at least mine doesn’t).

Sometimes it’s beautiful and sometimes it’s messy. Sometimes I feel deeply content and sometimes I’m wondering what the hell I’m doing. Sometimes I make my plans and sometimes God reminds me that His plans are better.

So, I’m learning to stop waiting for life to become perfect before I start living it.

Complexly Simple is where I document that process.

Here you’ll find pieces of motherhood, homeschooling, homemaking, faith, healing, relationships, becoming the woman God created me to be, learning to be content, and all the ordinary little moments that somehow become the life we’re always talking about.

There will be lessons.

There will probably (most certainly) be mistakes.

There will be prayers, realizations, goo days, hard days, and plenty of figuring things out in real time.

A Life in Progress

My hope is that this space feels less like a blog you’re reading and more like a letter from a woman sitting across the table from you, telling you what she’s been learning lately.

I don’t have a perfect life.. and I am not trying to convey that I’m creating one.

I’m trying to create a meaningful one.

A life centered around God. A home filled with love. A childhood my son remembers fondly. Work that matters. Relationships that are healthy and genuine. A slower, simpler way of living. And eventually, if God sees fit, a family and marriage built on something solid.

I’m learning that a simple life doesn’t necessarily mean an easy life. Sometimes the simplest things are actually the most meaningful.

A home-cooked meal (and maybe over grilling the chicken).

A Bible open on the table.

My sons laugh as he tries to prank me.

Fresh flowers in a vase hand-picked from the garden.

A walk outside.

A hard conversation.

A quiet slow morning.

A prayer whispered when nobody else knows you’re struggling.

A life that doesn’t look impressive from the outside but feels deeply like home on the inside.

That’s what I’m building.

Slowly, imperfectly, and with God.

Welcome to Complexly Simple.

I’m glad you’re here.

I know a little. I’m learning a lot.
